Pastor’s Perspective 03-24-2020
Practice social distancing! We’ve all heard that phrase a lot lately. I understand why. It’s just that we are social creatures. At a time when we are more isolated from others than ever, we need to stay connected to each other in healthy ways. I want to share how we are doing that as a church while a majority of our regular activities are suspended indefinitely.
Our children can join our Snyder Kids Facebook group or on Instagram @Snyder.kids for fun activities and family challenges during the week. Karen is also bringing children’s Sunday School into individual homes with a Bible lesson video families can watch together, a parent guide, an activity, and some questions for family discussion. This can be found on snydermbc.com/children.
Our youth life groups are meeting via ZOOM technology. Each life group has its own account where individual members can see and hear everyone else in their group as they chat online. Both the middle school and high school teaching teams are recording weekly Sunday School lessons and posting them to the Snyder Youth webpage prior to Sunday mornings. Aaron and Caroline are continuing the Wednesday evening RECHARGE lessons focused on “phrases every Christian teenager should know” via videos posted to Instagram.
Our technology team is playing an instrumental role in supporting these ministries to our children and youth in addition to all they are doing to broadcast our Sunday morning worship services live on both video and radio. Currently you can access our services on our website, www.snydermbc.com/sermons/; our Facebook page, www.facebook.com/snyderbaptist/; and on the Snyder app on ROKU. You can also tune in to Christian 105.7 on FM radio or the mobile app for Sunday services and Thursday replays
Finally, we are moving forward with a scaled down version of OIAM this weekend with four projects to help members of our community who need some attention in the midst of this crisis: ramps, yardwork, packing in the fellowship hall, and plants for our church neighbors. Sunday, I will conclude my current sermon series with the final invitation we will all receive from Jesus when He welcomes us home!
Let’s stay connected until we are able to meet together again! ~ John
