Pastor Search Committee Update 04-05-2022
Since the end of January, we have had three Congregational Conversations in which we gathered YOUR comments and thoughts about Snyder and the next Senior Pastor. This information has become our Church Profile, defining how we started, where we are, and what the future holds. Most say we are a “compassionate and caring” congregation which explains that “relationships” are why so many have stayed. With attendance down because of COVID, our giving is up, and we remain debt free since 2019. Even without a Senior Pastor and COVID, new members have continued to join Snyder. The Church Profile shows candidates a snapshot of Snyder and will soon be published on Snyder’s website.
The majority of the congregation treasures Snyder’s commitment to Biblical teaching, Missions, Youth and Children, and the Sweet, Sweet Spirit. There is strong support for both our 11am Traditional and 8:40am Contemporary Services, the Singing Christmas Tree, and Sunday School. Areas identified that can be improved are Young Adult Ministry, growing Discipleship for all, and more guidance on Lay Witnessing.
The surveys of our last session have been tallied and used to determine the Pastor Profile. Overwhelmingly topping the lists are “nurturing spiritual growth of church members” and “Biblically based” sermons. Making Christ real, working with deacons/lay leadership, and empowering the ministerial staff also rank at the top. From your responses, we will also create a Sermon Scorecard and prepare interview questions.
Our partner, Center for Healthy Churches, will use your Pastor Profile as their guide and begin contacting their nationwide resources for candidates. Part of the process includes the CHC using YOUR input to guide them to possible matches. Then, the Pastor Search Committee will be given a list of names, contact information, and links to sermons from the candidates. The PSC will handle all the interviewing process, using phone calls, zoom meetings, and in-person interviews.
This process to find a new Senior Pastor is not simple or swift. While the PSC continues to meet weekly, your participation and patience and prayers are invaluable. IF you wish to submit a candidate, there is a form on Snyder’s website that will be available through mid-April. Click the tab Pastor Search and see the link below. To God be the Glory!
