Heather Arnold, Basson

Since August 2012, Heather Arnold has been the bassoon instructor at Snyder Music Academy, where she also plays in the church orchestra. Heather has given private bassoon lessons since 1996. During her studies at Peabody and afterwards, Heather was the second bassoon of the National Philharmonic Orchestra (2003-2005), the second bassoon of the Gettysburg Symphony Orchestra (1999-2002), and was an active free-lance performer in the Maryland, D.C. , and Virginia area. She has also performed in many performance groups such as the Annapolis Symphony Orchestra and Opera, and the Baltimore Chamber Orchestra. Since 2000, Heather has been making Baroque, Contra, and modern bassoon reeds for James Kopp Reeds in NJ. She has also given Master classes in reed-making for music education students at UMCP, and enjoys teaching the art of reed-making to her current students.

Giles Blankenship, Guitar

Born and raised in Martinsville, VA–cutting his musical teeth in church and school choirs and an unashamed and self-proclaimed band geek–Giles tried his hand at writing his first songs at 16. He is now excited about his latest release, The Day Is Dawning, a collection of songs about grief and hope, loss and finding solid ground as a community. Giles and his family currently reside in Fayetteville, NC, where he leads and guides Snyder’s “New Way” worship ministry.

“Miss Dee” resides in Ayden, NC, and teaches at studios in Greenville, Morehead City, and Fayetteville.  She performs extensively throughout Eastern North Carolina as both a soloist and an orchestral/chamber music musician.  She composes and performs classical music, bluegrass fiddle, and jazz!  While music is her passion and profession, she shares her heart with her cats, dogs and champion show ponies.  She is our very own “Renaissance Woman”.

A “Suzuki Kid” herself, Kristin fell in love with the Suzuki Method while attending her first Suzuki Teacher Training Course. She is proud to have learned from some of the best Suzuki teachers in the country, and is so excited to pass on this knowledge, love, and appreciation of music to children. Kristin begins Suzuki violin/viola instruction with children as young 4 year olds, but welcomes students of any age!

Anastasia Bryant, Piano, Snyder Music Academy Staff Accompanist

Since April 2015 Anastasia Bryant has been a piano instructor at Snyder Music Academy. Anastasia is from Voronezh, Russia where she taught at the Voronezh State Academy of Arts as a private and academy teacher for all proficiency levels and taught chamber classes for middle and elementary school. During this time she also worked as an accompanist for all string classes, and woodwind instruments. In this position Anastasia also prepared the academy choir for domestic and international competitions held in Russia, Italy, and France. Between Sept 2003 and June 2008 Anastasia was invited to and performed live with the Voronezh State Philharmonic Orchestra on several occasions with numerous solo performances. Her international experience as an instructor and performer includes working in the countries of Kuwait and United Arab of Emirates between 2007 to 2011where she coordinated, managed and performed in special music events with the cooperation of local sponsors and businesses as well as worked as a private instructor.Upon her arrival to the United States Anastasia worked in New Jersey as a private instructor and accompanist for Montclair State University, lead pianist and organist for several Churches and Van Hoven Music Studio. Since her arrival in NC she has performed as an accompanist in several recitals. Anastasia is also a member of the Fayetteville Piano Teacher Association.

Mary-Anne Greene, Dance

Mary-Anne Greene holds a BA in Dance Education from Meredith College and a MA in Dance Education from UNC at Greensboro. She also had the opportunity to study abroad at the Laban Centre in London, England. This will be her ninth year teaching dance in the public school system, and her third year teaching dance at Fayetteville Technical Community College. She is looking forward to continuing her relationship with Snyder Memorial Baptist Church by sharing her love of dance and now working with Snyder Music Academy.

Juliana LeBlanc Gutierrez, Piano

Juliana began her career in piano at the age of three.  She began her performance career at the age of five.  As an adult, she has a passion for both performance and instruction in piano and voice.  Juliana has had students from the ages of 3-80 and has taught from early beginners to the well advanced.   Her utmost goal is the help students find and reach their own personal goals, whether it be learning a specific song or becoming proficient in musical performance of piano and/or voice.

As a prodigy in piano, Juliana has had extensive private instruction by such world-renowned artists as Martin Neron; Steinway artist, Carol Commune; and, Russian pianist, Galina Prilutskaya.  Her elite training opened to her the doors of Westminster Conservatory in Princeton, New Jersey, where she studied for over ten years.  Juliana began her education toward a Bachelor of Piano Performance and Piano Pedagogy degree in New Jersey, but a move to North Carolina interrupted her studies.  Currently, she is visiting campuses to find the best program offered to complete her undergraduate degree.  Her goal is to earn a Doctorate of Music degree.

Juliana’s vocal training was under the instruction of operatic singer and Academy of Vocal Arts alumnus, Sophie Taillefer.  Additionally, Juliana studied with recording artist and University of the Arts alumnus, Kahlil Gunther.

Cheleen Sugar-Ducksworth, Voice

Cheleen Sugar-Ducksworth is a 2016 graduate of the University of Mississippi and has been studying music since she was a child. She has taught voice since 2012 and has performed in operas and oratorios nationally and internationally. Most recently, she was featured in the leading role of “L’enfant” in Maurice Ravel’s L’enfant et les Sortilѐges. She teaches various ages and stages of voice and will ensure that students are knowledgeable about the fundamentals of vocal study.
