Kenya Mission Trip, Day 2
Thump, thump, thump. This is the sound of a gourd hanging around the mirror of the bus hitting the front window as we head to the Joska Boarding School. While the drive was only an hour, the conditions of the dirt road leading to the school seemed much longer than that.
Thump, thump, thump. This is the sound we hear as the girls of the Joska Boarding school stomp their feet to worship during the service we were so blessed to be able to experience. Edie mentioned that this church service was by far the best she had ever experienced and I could not agree more. From the sound of 200 voices praying out loud at once to being able to do the mackeraina during worship, I was in awe at the amount of love these little girls shared for Jesus.
Thump, thump, thump. This is the sound of us climbing the stairs of the newly built dormitories for the MOHI boys. Four stories high, this is now the tallest building within their county and the high school boys can see 38 astounding acres of land from their windows! We did not see many boys while visiting because of a spiritual worship weekend that had been ongoing since Friday.
Thump, thump, thump. This is the sound my heart makes for the beautiful people of Kenya. While we have only been here two days, these people have touched my heart in every way possible. I pray that God continues working within every heart of these boys and girls!
With unending joy, Sydney Shank
