A Pastor’s Perspective 11-16-2021
Two weeks I look forward to every year are the weeks of Vacation Bible School and the Singing Christmas Tree. During both weeks, we get a front-row seat to watch how Snyder Memorial Baptist Church comes together as the body of Christ to witness members using their gifts to serve others and honor Christ. Operation InAsMuch is another time we all get to witness the church fully engage as Christ’s body.
One of the days I look forward to leading up to the “Tree” is ticket day. The entire church staff excitedly waits for the influx of those seeking tickets for Snyder’s Christmas Gift to our congregation and community. That Thursday the phones were manned and the ticket table set to take two orders at a time. Expectantly, we opened the church doors at 8:30….and my heart ached a bit. The usual long line…didn’t materialize this year. Normally tickets would be scarfed up. Yet, many still sit in their boxes. Another COVID casualty? I pray not.
We have shortened the “Tree” time to about 77 minutes with no intermission this year. We’ve reduced the number of tickets per presentation to allow some distancing. Our children, youth and adult choirs are rehearsing. Steps of Faith is stepping up. The orchestra is getting tuned. The tree is being erected. What we need now, is you.
I pray that you’ll make the “Tree” part of your Christmas celebration this year. We’re preparing a gift for you. Will you receive and open it by joining us for one of the presentations from December 2 – 5? If not in person this year, please watch us online!
I’ve appreciated Andy’s messages on being thankful. I’m thankful for you….ALL OF YOU!!!
