A Pastor’s Perspective 02-22-2022
We had a great weekend here at Snyder!
Our youth hosted our “keeners” Saturday night and ushered us back to the 50s as we twisted the night away. Burgers, fries and apple pie ala mode filled the tummy as our talented youth entertained us with trivia and musical numbers. Thanks to the Keen Team planning team, our youth and their parents who served so graciously.
Our combined service Sunday allowed us to worship together as we celebrated baptism and hummed along with the handbells. After participating in baptism, I found a seat next to my wife towards the back of the Sanctuary. It provided me with a different gaze than I normally view on Sunday mornings. Something caught my attention as Andy asked a few of his rhetorical questions to help us engage and ponder his points. There to my left, a few rows down, I saw a small hand shoot up several times as if to say, “I know the answer….call on me.” I chuckled, hopefully silently. I thought about how great it was that a second grader was paying attention to a sermon on the importance of communication between Christians in God’s Family. Awesome! Did you know the answers?
Hopefully, you were able to participate in our second Congregational Conversation after worship on Sunday. The ministerial staff enjoyed helping Karen care for the kids during the meeting. We heard it was well attended and an important next step for our Pastor Search Team as they gather information from you. Thank you for your input and continued prayers for the team, our church and our next pastor. The meeting should be is on the website, www.snydermbc.com. Click on “Watch and Listen” and it is listed under “Special Services”. Many have commented on how beneficial the “40 Days of Prayer” has been.
And to top off our great weekend, a new Afghan family moved into our Welcome House as the prior occupant family moved next door to one of our mission homes. It’s exciting to witness the joy of these families as we interact and they find community on Snyder’s campus. Thanks to Susie Reeder for her investment of countless hours, along with each of you who gave so many resources and hours of labor to make this outreach of love a reality.
We are indeed blessed to be a part of God’s Family. Thank you for being a part of God’s Family here at Snyder. I look forward to worshiping with you on Sunday!
Your Brother in Christ, Bruce
