how do i become a member?
Although church membership is NOT required to an active participant in the worship and growth experiences at Snyder Memorial Church, we think joining the church helps make you feel a part of what happens here. It is a way of being a part of a unified body of believers who stand together as a witness of their beliefs and join hands to carry out the Great Commission.
As most Baptist churches do, we extend an invitation to join the church at the close of almost every worship service. All you need to do is walk down to the front of the worship area and inform the minister of your decision. You may join by any of the following ways:
-
Profession of your faith in Jesus Christ as your Savior and asking for baptism.
-
Statement of your previous commitment to Jesus Christ and that you have been baptized by immersion.
-
Transfer of letter from another Baptist Church which means we write a letter to the Baptist church where you now belong and tell them that you wish to join Snyder.
We do ask those who join to be baptized by immersion. Although the act of baptism has no miraculous power in itself, it is a picture of a person being cleansed of their old ways and beginning a fresh, new life. Jesus himself was baptized by immersion at the beginning of his ministry. It is a witness to all who watch that God, through Jesus, gives us new life.
If you wish to find out more about the church before you join, please feel free to talk with one of our ministers. We will soon be offering a Discovery Class which will give you more information about our church. Be watching for the date for this class.
