Our Mission
Our mission is to strengthen
Christian marriages
by providing
love, support, mentorship,
and education
and to encourage
a Biblically-based model
for marriage,
as outlined in
Ephesians 5:21-33.
Couples Night Out
All newly-engaged and married couples are invited to join us for fellowship and have the opportunity to go out, as a couple, for a date. At each meeting we will have a new discussion topic pertaining to marriage or family. Childcare is available to those who need it, for $5 per family and will include pizza and juice for the children. Each Couples’ Night Out will take place on a Saturday, from 4-8pm in the Youth Suite.
Mark Your Calendars For The 2012 Dates:
April 21st
June 9th
August 11th
October 20th
December 8th
This is a great opportunity to meet other couples in the church and have some devoted time with your spouse!
Mentorship Program
Mentor couples are matched with mentored couples. The purpose of the relationship is to provide encouragement and words of experience to couples beginning their marriage or who may be needing support. Couples can also participate in a Marriage Enrichment Fellowship Group. This is a group of 4-6 couples that meets to encourage one another in marriage and share fellowship. The marriage ministry can also facilitate a mentoring relationship while a spouse is deployed; a mentor of the same gender who has been through deployment(s) can provide support to the spouse who is still at home throughout the deployment.
Education and Enrichment
The Marriage Ministry offers a class on Wednesday evenings, each semester, for married or engaged couples of any age. Each semester will have a new topic that deals with marriage and/or family. The Marriage Ministry organizes and promotes participation in marriage retreats/conferences.
Did You Know...?
In a five-year follow-up study, the researchers found that couples who attended pre-marital education had a divorce rate 50% lower than control couples who did not. These findings have been replicated in other studies, both here and abroad, and give cause for optimism about slowing down the divorce rate.
28% of California adults have “participated in a relationship or marriage education program.” Of those who attended a program, 94% found the information they received helpful.
Marriage education benefits a whole congregation – healthy marriages produce healthy families, healthy families raise healthy Christians, and healthy Christians contribute more to the mission of the Church.
