Operation Inasmuch 2008
Website: http://www.operationinasmuch.com
O.I.A.M. is a community and church wide blitz in which church members use their everyday skills to be a witness for Christ. Operation Inasmuch began at Snyder Memorial Baptist Church in 1995 and has grown to be a popular, interdenominational event held twice a year in that Southeastern NC community. It has also been adopted as a major community emphasis by about 500 churches in several states and has been conducted by at least one church in England and will be done by congregations in Canada in 2005. You may sign up for an Operation Inasmuch project online closer to the OIAM dates.

Fayetteville Area Operation Inasmuch
Website: http://www.faoiam.org
In 2005, Sue Byrd, a Snyder member felt God calling her to step out of job with Fayetteville Urban Ministries and begin Fayetteville Area Operation Inasmuch. The non-profit began as a way to bring churches together and do Operation Inasmuch more than just 2 days a year. Since the beginning, the organization has been given a building that will become the FAOIAM ministry building. Plans for the building include a breakfast feeding program and programs that will help train the homeless to get back on their feet towards a job and housing all with a spiritual emphasis. Hope is that the ministry building will begin serving breakfast during the summer of 2008. Once the building is completed, there will be many ways for Snyder members to volunteer by feeding breakfast, ministering to homeless people and sharing their faith, as well a training them for a job skill. Be watching for more information.
Bicycle Ministry
Our Bicycle Ministry is headed up by Ed Parker. This ministry takes used donated bicycles and turns them into “like new” bicycles. The bicycles are then donated to Moses Mathis, “The Bicycle Man” who gives them away to children whose family can not afford a new bike. Used bicycles are always welcome as well as volunteers to work on the bicycles. The bicycle ministry is located in the basement of the church under the chapel and usually meets on Friday mornings to work.

Habitat for Humanity
Website: http://fayettevilleonline.com/fayettevillehabitat
Snyder Memorial Baptist Church has been working with Habitat in Fayetteville for the last 15 years. Over that time, Snyder has built 10 houses. This year Snyder will pay to refurbish 3 homes for that had been in foreclosure. Once the repairs have been made, 3 families will receive homes! Later in the year we will have the opportunity to build a special “green” house for Habitat. Be watching for details!
Sponsorship of Margaret Willis School
Website: http://www.mwes.ccs.k12.nc.us
In the spring of 2007, Snyder began to look around it’s neighborhood and found Margaret Willis School where 97% of the children receive free lunch. Snyder began looking for a project for Operation Inasmuch and asked the principal of MWS what we could do for them. They said they needed cubbies for 4 of their classrooms. So our carpentry ministry took care of that and the church voted on a formal sponsorship relationship with Margaret Willis School. We are now providing “Backpack Buddies” (a ziploc bag full of easy prepared foods and snacks) for 20 children who are not getting the meals they need over the weekends. Each Friday these 20 children receive a “backpack buddy” in their backpack to take home with them to eat over the weekend. We also collect school supplies and uniforms for the school. Sunday School classes also sponsor families during Christmas from MWS. Anyone may donate supplies, uniforms, or money to the cause or volunteer at the school by tutoring or helping to proctor tests.
